Jabal al-Nour
Jabal al-Nour (Mountain of Light) (east of Al Hajj Rd and north of King Faisal Road) – located just outside of Mecca, this site is a cave where Mohamed received his first revelation (consisting of the first verses of the Koran). According to Islamic tradition, it was here that the archangel Gabriel gave the Prophet his first revelation. Warning: Reaching the cave entails a difficult hike that takes even the fittest hiker around two hours.
